First Fix Joinery

The structural framework

“First Fix” joinery or carpentry is the work a carpenter or joiner does once the “wet trades” have finished. The joiner will take a building from its foundations to the point where the internal walls can be plastered.

This is the framework for the final layer of the building and includes joists, building of stud-walls, plaster boarding of walls and ceilings, staircases (fabrication and fitting), flooring, door and window frames, etc. This work is structural and is usually hidden from view by the end of the project using mostly rough sawn timber.

PJA Joinery can take care of any aspect of First Fix or Second Fix joinery. Find out more about Second Fix joinery: Second Fix Joinery
